As part of the latest Bungie Weekly Update, a fan asked: "Just to reassure many of us, you love all your fans the same, no matter what system they play on, right?"

Bungie community manager David Dague responded, "That's right."

"You have some tough choices to make about the vessel you'll select to transport you to the world of Destiny. No matter how things end up, Bungie will love you, and we'll play with you. I have an entertainment center at home that's bristling with modern entertainment devices to prove it," he said.

It's not too surprising that Xbox fans might think Bungie is somewhat overlooking them for Destiny. After all, Destiny was showcased at Sony's PlayStation 4 announcement event in February 2013 and then again at Sony's E3 media briefing later that year. Sony even teamed up with Bungie for a new PS4 commercial, and the beta for Destiny will begin this summer first on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Destiny launches September 9 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. It is Bungie's first multiplatform game in many years, as all recent Halo games were released only for Xbox consoles.

Also in this week's Bungie Weekly Update, the developer promised fans that they will know "well in advance" when the upcoming Destiny beta will begin. It's currently scheduled to start sometime in July, and Bungie teased that, "You'll discover more about exactly when it will be your turn to play….when we make announcements at E3. That's a promise."

"The 'when' will no longer be a mystery. Of course, we'll keep the 'where' and the 'to what extent' closer to our vests," Dague said. Overall, Bungie teased that it is spending a lot of time preparing for E3, noting that the show should be "one hell of a party."

In addition, Bungie teased that Destiny fans will get to try the game's competitive, head-to-head multiplayer mode sometime ahead of launch this September. "Hopefully, you'll be able to experience it first-hand before the game even launches," Bungie said.

This could mean that the Destiny beta will include competitive multiplayer. It could also mean that Bungie will bring Destiny on the road to public shows like Comic-Con or PAX.

Finally, Bungie said a lack of experience with Bungie's Halo games won't be detrimental to your enjoyment of Destiny.

"Absolutely not," Dague said. "Destiny is a totally new vision for Bungie. New story. New setting. New heroes. New ways to play and discover other players. For us, it's been a next-gen exploration in every sense. There are those who loved Halo that have tried Destiny and described it as 'coming home.' We're glad to hear that, even though we still have plans to surprise them. The thing for you to remember is that you don't have to grow up in a nice place to enjoy it once you move there."

Eddie Makuch is a news editor at GameSpot, and you can follow him on Twitter @EddieMakuch

Got a news tip or want to contact us directly?
