Swedish filmmaker Josef Fares landed a hit with 2013 downloadable title Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, which was widely praised and helped developer Starbreeze finally turn a profit. So what's next? In an interview with Digital Spy, Fares said he is already cooking up his next project, which he described as groundbreaking.
"I'm moving on to the next thing. I have my next idea ready, it's super cool. It's very different," Fares said. "I can tell you this--if I tell you the idea now, you'd say, 'I haven't played something like this before'. I can't tell you more. But definitely something that hasn't been done before."
Fares said this new game will not be developed by Starbreeze, which continues to work on releasing new content for its heist-themed shooter Payday 2. The new project could be developed by Fares' own studio, he suggested.
"Yeah, I think that's what's going to happen," he said. "We'll see what happens... I can't talk too much about this!"
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was noteworthy for its story and its unique control style. In the game, you control one brother with the left thumb stick and the other brother with the right, which creates a challenging 'rub your belly, pat your head' dynamic.
